Orizzonte is a topographical fabulation that connects different planes of a changing territory, that of Tyrrhenian Calabria, portraying places characterized by the movement of matter and people between land and sea. Following the landscape's orography, it combines views of excavated topographies (such as caves and quarries) with emerging topographies (volcanoes), interspersed with a large industrial port, the coastline, and the horizon.

The photographs feature lines drawn by hand with a marker from a novel by Giuseppe Berto, a Venetian writer who lived for many years on the Calabrian coast. Berto reflects on his fear of crossing the sea and thus concludes by observing the night lights on the other side of the coast, toward Sicily.

Born in the context of visual research for the video project Oltremare (2025), the work was developed as a site-specific installation of thirty-six photographs arranged in a continuous sequence, where the horizon is both a geographical and metaphorical threshold.
